Me… crossing the finish line at the AZ Spartan Sprint in the McDowell Mountains earlier this year.

I missed my WOD yesterday.  I did a little body weight workout with my 8-yr old son, but I consider that more fun than anything else.  He was a trooper.  50 jumping jacks, 50 air squats, 50 crunches, 50 knee-to-chest jumps, 5 pushups (he did 5, I did 50 with him on my back).  It was fun, but on my run this morning, I have to say I felt like hell.

The Toronto Tough Mudder is in 10 days but, after pulling my groin a couple weeks ago, I’m in rough shape (for me).  So today, was about mixing it up so I could still push myself.

Let’s get to it!

WOD  8-7-14

Warm up:

  • 25 air squats

Main Set:

  • 30 minute run
  • In the middle of the run, add a body weight exercise of your choice.  Mine was 50 walking lunges/side
  • Here’s what mine looked like:
  • Break yours up as much or as little as you think you need.  As you can see, I did my lunges after the 2-mile mark.

Cool down with a stretching session and rehydrate yourself.

That’s it!

Friday will be my last weighted workout until after the TM.  Bodyweight exercises everyday until 4 days before the event.
