I ran the XTERRA Trail Race in the Estrella Mountains yesterday morning. I wasn’t particularly feeling great – my ankles, knees, and back felt sore and tight. I got to  the race venue a little early and spent about a half hour doing dynamic stretching (air squats, walking lunges, high knee jogging, etc.), with static stretching between ‘sets’. I guess it helped! I ran the 8K mountain course 7 minutes faster than last year with a time of 51:55! This placed my 9th in my age group – the first time in the top 10!  I was quite happy – it means I’m still improving!  Here’s what it looked like:

This week, we’ll be starting back up with Crossfit workouts. I possibly have the Houston Tough Mudder in less than a month. So… it’s time to start working on my overall body strength again.

Today is the Crossfit Benchmark WOD, ‘Barbara’. We’ll be doing this again next Monday, so make sure you record your numbers!

WOD 10-6-14

Warm up with 3-5 minutes of Jump Rope (or double-unders)


  • 20 Pull-ups
  • 30 Push-ups
  • 40 Sit-ups
  • 50 Squats

5 rounds for time.

Cool down, stretch, and hydrate.

Record your time – we’ll be repeating this WOD next Monday!
