“If you want something you’ve never had, you must be willing to do something you’ve never done.” -Thomas Jefferson

I’ve really been struggling with my ankles this past week. Walking is ok, but just going for a run is still painful. Rolling my ankles on my last race has left me with the inability to run in preparation for my upcoming XTERRA race in January. However, I’m still staying prepared for the upcoming Tough Mudders and Spartan Races, so I am still able to work on my overall strength.

Today, I’m sharing the workout I’ve been doing all week. I hope you enjoy it!

WOD 12-3-14

Warm up: Jump rope (5-10  minutes)

Main set

Supersets of:

  • Deadlifts – 7-14 reps
  • Pullups – 7-14 reps
  • 1 minute rest

*I started out with a relatively light weight on the Deadlifts, and kept it light throughout the latter sets.

**I also used wrist-straps so that I could fully utilize all my major muscles without being held back by my (lack of) grip strength in the latter sets.

That’s it!

Start out slow, focus on form, focus on breathing properly, and keep your core tight.  Increase weight on the Deadlifts for more of a challenge, and try chinups or jumping pullups if you are fatiguing too quickly.  Just keep going until you’re all done.

See you on Friday!
