This weekend was pretty rough. I slipped and fell on my tailbone in the parking lot. I tried twisting to catch myself and hurt my shoulder and elbow. I’m really feeling it today.

However, I have the Spartan Sprint to run on Sunday when I get back. Being in the Northeast has not been conducive to my training. Running in the brutal wind and cold is not the best or safest idea. Limited equipment where I’ve been staying has really given me challenges to overcome because I still need to push myself if I want to earn a quicker time this year.

Having said that, I’m pretty hurt right now. So I really had to work on a different strategy with the WOD today. I know it’s not as intense, but it definitely what I needed today.

I took it really slow, focusing on my form, my breathing, and the areas where it hurt.

It helped.

WOD 2-2-15

Warm up: Treadmill – 1 hour (yes, this was brutal for me…)

Main set:

  • 25 assisted air squats (I used the railing of the treadmill to stabilize me)
  • 25 step ups/side
  • 25 pushups
  • 25 crunches (with 2 second hold at the top)

I aimed for 4 sets and got through 5. If I can do this, so can you. For more of a challenge, change the intensity of each exercise as follows:

  • 25 standing knee-to-chest jumps
  • 25 step jumps/side
  • 25 plyometric pushups (explosive pushups, where your hands come off the ground)
  • 25 hanging leg raises.
